Two recent Compuware announcements meet the growing need for fully-secure web applications
The security of web applications is increasingly critical to the enterprise – Compuware acknowledges this trend with Compuware DevPartner SecurityChecker 2.0, which addresses the need for built-in security better than ever before. DevPartner SecurityChecker is a security assessment tool that accelerates the development of secure ASP.NET applications in a fast, cost-effective manner. It automatically identifies security vulnerabilities through a combination of white-box techniques (code scanning and run-time analysis) and black-box ones (penetration testing).
Now fully integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, DevPartner SecurityChecker 2.0 helps development and testing teams to improve the quality of their Microsoft ASP.NET Web applications, locating and fixing security vulnerabilities early in the application life cycle – an approach that is certain to save time and money.
Bernd Oerding, head of CAD/GIS development at software company HHK Datentechnik GmbH, has beta-tested the product, and reports: “With DevPartner SecurityChecker 2.0, we were able to check our code and see all of the errors and possible security risks. We also got detailed information on how to address and resolve the security issues. All this has helped to improve the overall code quality, and the security, of our applications.”
Complementing the product, Compuware has launched a Security Assessment service for ASP.NET applications. Compuware professionals can help clients assess the security vulnerabilities of a given application using DevPartner SecurityChecker. The service applies a combination of three methods to detect vulnerabilities: code-base analysis, run-time analysis and simulation of hacker attacks. The customer receives a detailed report itemising any loopholes that need to be plugged. |
