How well developed is your Project Portfolio Management function?

As IT becomes increasingly central to the successful functioning of the business, it needs to be managed closely in line with the business’s strategic objectives.

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) ensures that the right IT projects are given priority and that staff and resources are appropriately deployed across projects. Successful PPM ensures that IT projects are always aligned with corporate objectives, that they are completed on time and to requirements, and that they deliver a measurable and positive return to the business.

Some organisations are further ahead with implementing PPM than others, though. In this month’s issue of Insight, we bring you expert insight and advice on successfully adopting PPM in your organisation.

Start by downloading Gartner’s eight-page PPM Maturity Model, which lets you assess where your organisation is on the PPM maturity curve and provides a step-by-step guide to implementing PPM.

Next, take a look at the advice we’ve gathered from senior IT executives about how they have implemented PPM in their respective organisations. Tips range from ensuring you have an adequate supporting infrastructure to implementing metrics to measure and communicate project value.

Thirdly, view our on-demand webcast, which examines the vital role of the Program Management Office (PMO) in maximising the effectiveness of the PPM approach and reveals ten secrets to PMO success.

Finally, learn how Compuware’s Changepoint solutions can help you implement, manage and develop your own PPM strategy.

Also in this issue, we bring you news of a new partnership between Compuware Covisint and Microsoft to enable patients to share their health information confidentially with healthcare providers.

And last but not least, the developers among you may be interested to read a new case study about German quality assurance software provider AHP, which is using Uniface to deliver complex custom applications to the automotive aftermarket division of Robert Bosch GmbH.

As always, we hope you find this newsletter interesting, useful and informative. If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

AHP punches above its weight with Uniface

For a company with only 16 employees, German software provider AHP has some impressive clients. Our case study reveals how the company has used Uniface to create highly complex quality assurance applications for blue-chip client Robert Bosch GmbH. Uniface’s speed and ease of use have enabled AHP to compete successfully with much bigger software providers, while Bosch and its worldwide network of 13,500 service workshops have benefited greatly from AHP’s software.
