When the National Farmers Union Property and Casualty Company needed an innovative method of connecting its agents in the field to central resources and each other via a wide range of technology platforms, Compuware Uniface was up to the challenge.
Based in Greenwood Village, Colorado, National Farmers Union agents sell policies to farms, small businesses and individuals right across the north central and Rocky Mountain states of the US.
Linking such a large number of agents over tricky geography using their own choice of computers and software wasn’t an easy task until Compuware Uniface provided legacy renewal and internet access to all the Union’s business-critical applications for everyone that needed it. The new system now connects Windows and AS/400 platforms while updating outmoded COBOL applications.
“Things are going exceedingly well,” says Stan Hume, National Farmers Union’s IT vice president.
“The product seems to be right and the system has been very well received and is performing as we expect.
We’ve got several other Uniface projects going as well, some large, some small, but all are on track.”
