  Welcome from Pete Summers

Welcome to the October issue of Insight, our monthly newsletter for Compuware customers. In our News section, we bring you a new thought-leadership article outlining six steps to achieving effective IT governance for high profile public sector IT projects, and we reveal how one of China’s leading automotive manufacturers is using Compuware’s Covisint platform to collaborate with hundreds of suppliers worldwide.

The big news in the Development section this month is the upcoming CU2006 event in Strasbourg in November. Uniface users shouldn’t miss this excellent opportunity to get a first look at Uniface 9 and meet other users from around the world. In the meantime, you can read how 40 Swedish educational establishments have used Uniface to bring their legacy applications into line with the modern, business-driven academic environment. OptimalJ developers can download our white paper on overcoming the many challenges of developing enterprise J2EE applications, and we also feature a webcast with Forrester Research about using OptimalTrace to capture business requirements.

In our Quality section we reveal how New Zealand Post rescued a failing IT project with Compuware tools, we announce the general availability of Compuware TestPartner 5.6.0, and you can download a limited-availability Forrester white paper on introducing a performance-driven application development strategy.

The Application Performance section includes a new paper that examines the problem of supporting and managing heterogeneous Web Services environments. We also look at how Bavaria’s broadcasting corporation has resolved user application problems by implementing continuous user experience monitoring, and you can find out more about how you can deploy user experience monitoring to benefit your own organisation wih our featured webcast.

Finally, in our Enterprise section, you will find a comprehensive set of informational materials about ensuring data privacy, especially in applications development and testing environments.  With governments and regulatory bodies across Europe currently tightening up data protection rules, we hope you will find our white paper, factsheet and archived webcast an excellent guide to what you need to do in your organisation to ensure compliance.

As always, I hope that you enjoy this issue of Insight and find it useful. We would love to receive your feedback, comments and questions, so please don’t hesitate to email us here.

Best wishes

Pete Summers, EMEA Marketing Director
