When ICT services company Northgate won a contract to manage 2,700 servers at 1,700 sites for a large educational project in Northern Ireland, the penalties for falling below agreed service levels could have been a financial risk. Northgate chose Compuware Vantage to provide proactive performance monitoring, pre-emptive alerting, auto-repair of common problems and detailed reports of system usage. Vantage lets Northgate meet its service obligations with just two systems administrators and an operator. The project also provides Northgate with a reference site where it can demonstrate its systems management capabilities to prospective new clients.
